Scarlet Deer Inn Invites You to Play

Attu Games has announced that their third game, Scarlet Deer Inn, will be avaiable from August 8-15, 2024 on Steam. From the creators of Feudal Alloy and Toby: The Secret Mine, Scarlett Deer Inn is an embroidered narrative platformer set in the Middle Ages.

Perfectly Cultured

Attu Games is the husband and wife team of Lukas Navratil and Eva Navratilova. With the creators hailing from Czechia, Scarlett Deer Inn is absolutely steeped in Slavic folklore. Lukas and Eva share a deep love of their country and culture. They wanted to present a deep and emotional story that reflects it, with every fiber of their being.

Scarlet Deer Inn is also notably their biggest and most ambitious project to date. While Attu Games has participated in many Game Jams and two other games under their belt, it is the methods of creation that have truly set Scarlet Deer Inn apart.

The story of Scarlet Deer Inn follows Elise, a widowed mother of two. She is a perfectly ordinary woman in a perfectly ordinary town. No songs or epics would be written about such a woman – not until tragedy forces her from her home. Armed with only a torch for protection, Elise must travel the dark and dangerous corners of her world, facing terrifying creatures, in order to find her way back to the light.

Embroidery, You Say?

But what is an embroidered platformer, you may ask? Because every character and all of their frames have been machine embroidered before being carefully captured for the game. The method gives each character a unique life and texture against the hand-painted backdrop of their world.

Lukas and Eva created every asset in Scarlet Deer Inn entirely themselves, right down to the music soundtrack. They perform traditional music inspired by the Middle Ages on Czechian instruments. The dedication they have shown to the preservation and representation of their heritage is truly admirable.

Scarlet Deer Inn does not have a release date yet, but we will keep you updated on any news from Attu Games.
