Hive Jump 2 Release Date Announced

Through the combined effort of developers Graphite Lab, Joystick, and Sonamu Games, Hive Jump 2: Survivors is coming September 10th. Published by Midwest Games, this sci-fi bullet heaven roguelike is a sequel to the award-winning Hive Jump.

Despite its predecessor being a platformer, Hive Jump 2 switches up the perspective with a traditional top-down look. However, this change doesn’t seem to impact the core gameplay: kicking bug butt while exploring tough environments and enhancing your core abilities.

Features

  • Jumping Jetpacks: A game-changing addition to your artillery, necessary for dodging enemies and traversing the environment
  • Auto and Manual Aiming: Auto-fire at enemies to focus on movement, or take aim to better control the chaos
  • Multiple Jumpers, Multiple Ways to Kill: Each Jumper has distinct stats that impact speed, rate of fire, health, and more
  • Customize Your Jumper: Earn weapons, upgrades, and augments to tackle each run strategically
  • HSA Store: Convert bug guts into currency, exchanging “goo” for weapons, utilities, and relics
  • Permanent Upgrades: Unlock permanent abilities to give your Jumper an advantage

Hive Jump 2: Survivors encompasses 4 biomes, some of which you can already explore in the early access build which is available through Steam now! In the full game you’ll be able to explore Crystal Caverns, a Frozen Tundra, a Volcanic Wasteland, and Mushroom Forests. Given the game’s bright pallet and retro pixel style, these locations look phenomenal already from the trailer. We here at NeverMore Niche are excited to give this game a try.

Currently, Hive Jump 2 is only available on Windows computers through steam but given that the original Hive Jump made its way onto Xbox and Switch it’s hopefully only a matter of time before the sequel is available for console players too.

Hive Jump 2: Survivors is available on PC through Steam and retails for $6.99. It releases on September 10th 2024.
