After having brought up incredible titles such as Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, and Pathfinder: Kingmaker, renowned RPG developer Owlcat Games have announced that they will be shifting focus from developer to publisher. This ambition is made possible by the recent acquisition of META Publishing, whom Owlcat Games had originally partnered with to bring Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous to PC and console storefronts in 2021.
This decision comes from Owlcat’s desire to help small independent teams from all over the world introduce their RPGs and narrative driver games to the players. “We have already walked the path of creating our dream game,” said Andrey Tsvetkov, Head of Publishing at Owlcat Games, “and now we have the expertise and resources to guide other teams to the games of their dreams as well.”
After reviewing more than 50 different projects, Owlcat has signed deals with two talented development teams to help make their dreams a reality. So, who are these two studios and what projects are they working on now?
Emotion Spark Studio
First up is Emotion Spark Studio and their upcoming narrative RPG Rue Valley. Featuring a story about a man trapped in a mysterious time loop during a psychotherapy session, Rue Valley’s main character will battle his mental challenges while delving into the anomaly and uncovering its enigmatic origins.

Another Angle Games
Next is Another Angle Games with their isometric RPG Shadow of the Road. Step back to feudal Japan in an alternate timeline with magical yokai and deadly steampunk technology. Featuring an immersive story about samurai, honor, and allegiance combined with a deep tactical turn-based combat system and beautiful top-down 3D world.

We’re so excited for this new chapter of Owlcat Games, and can’t wait to see what they bring us next. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for META Publishing’s upcoming titles later this month at Gamescom. For more information you can also follow Owlcat Games on Twitter, YouTube, or Facebook.
