To Infinity and Beyond Galaxyland!

Take to the stars with your normal average highschooler, Doug, as he is thrust into the interstellar city Galaxyland. In this retro sci-fi romp, you’ll have to navigate this strange new world to find out what happened to you and your world. Can you go Beyond Galaxyland to save your home?

A Whole New World

This 2.5D sci-fi adventure-RPG was developed by Sam ‘EnrightBeats’ Enright, a Chicago-based electronic music producer and game developer. Beyond Galaxyland is his second released game, together with publisher United Label. Sam Enright’s first self-released game, the cinematic turn-based RPG The Greater Good, launched in 2018, and he has spent the last six years working on this as its follow-up.

While the art and gameplay style is significantly different between the two games, it shows the growth in Enright’s skills as a developer. And needless to say, Enright produced all of his own music for Beyond Galaxyland’s soundtrack. If you give the track a listen, then you might just find yourself a new fan.

Beyond Galaxyland is inspired by classic 80’s sci-fi movies and iconic 1990’s turn-based RPG’s. Its graphics are bright and colorful with a fun cyberpunk aesthetic. While the characters are relatively simple, the environments are beautiful and stunningly rendered. Indeed, just by traveling a little you can sense the breadth of the universe that Enright is trying to convey. There are many different planets and facilities to explore. You have allies to gather and enemies to defeat, which all leads up to a Final Fantasy scale finale.

United Label announced the release date for Beyond Galaxyland at this year’s Future Game Show at Gamescom. The game will launch September 24th this year on PC and all current console platforms. While a demo is available for those at Gamescon, the rest of us will have to wait for it with bated breath.
