Elsie Blasts Into Game Stores Next Month

Playtonic Friends has announced their newest release by developer Knight Shift Games! Elsie, the technicolor roguelike action-platformer, is coming to PC and console September 10th.

Elsie is a game inspired heavily by anime and Megaman. Dr. Grey, a brilliant scientist and roboticist, created a team of high-tech androids specifically designed to prevent natural disasters. These androids were called “The Guardians”. However, for reasons unknown, The Guardians disappeared. An army of robots then lay siege to the planet of Ekis, accompanied by the worst natural disasters anyone had ever seen. Dr. Grey made a final android, like none seen before, to combat The Guardians and restore peace to Ekis.

That Android Is Elsie

Elsie is all about precision. From shooting, diving, parrying, to wall jumping, dashing, and counter attacking, you’ll battle across Ekis. It is a genuine bullet hell, so each mechanic must be mastered if you are to have a chance at survival. Be advised that Elsie is currently optimized for controllers, so if you play with a mouse and keyboard you’ll want to invest in something compatible with your machine.

Each level in Elsie is procedurally generated, positively drenched in neon and chrome. Each run will present unique challenges and enemies to defeat, so you’re never left repeating the same old cycle. Make strategic decisions on upgrades, skills, and weapons that you unlock in your runs to switch up your playstyle. Each biome has its Guardian, so optimize your combat to exploit the weak spots in their attacks.

Elsie is Knight Shift Games’ most ambitious project to date, and the first to be given full publication through Playtonic Friends. Playtonic Friends specializes in nostalgia-inducing games reminiscent of childhood favorites with modern twists, like Yooka-Laylee and Victory Heat Rally. Elsie completely fits that vibe. And if you’d like to find more of Knight Shift Games’ fun, arcade-style games, you can find them on their itch.io page.
