It’s that time of year again. Time for Jagex’s Old School RuneScape Summer Summit, and there are a lot of exciting things for OSRS players to look forward to in the coming year. From new bosses and game modes to new quests and rewards, there is a little something for everyone. While we won’t be able to cover all the exciting new content announced, here are some highlights.

The Adventure Continues in Varlamore II: The Rising Darkness
First introduced in the Winter Summit, the second part of Varlamore takes players on a journey from the island of Aldarin to the mountain range north of Civitas illa Fortis. Players can look forward to a new group boss (complete with new gear and huasca seed drops, a new herb), a new Herblore activity, and a low-intensity Agility course for when you get tired of running rooftops (squirrel pet alert).
World Bosses in the Wilderness with Wrathmaw
Looking for something a little more PvP focused? Jagex is hoping to bring the first world boss to Old School this coming November. Meant to replicate the feeling of breaches from the recent Deadman modes and bringing the boss monster to the Wilderness for all players to challenge.

The 60 players who dealt the most damage to Wrathmaw will be rewarded with Wrathmaw’s teeth, which can be used to create enhanced versions of PvP gear, traded in for revenant ether, the amulet of wrath (helpful in future Wrathmaw encounters), and Wildernerness teleports that can be used to quickly escape the Wilderness no matter how far in you go.
League V: Raging Echoes Brings Back Trailblazer Area-Locking Mechanics
Looking for a supercharged Old School gaming experience? Coming in November, Jagex is bringing back Leagues with League V: Raging Echoes. Along with the inclusion of Varlamore parts 1 and 2, now available for selection under the area-locking mechanics from the previous Trailblazer Reloaded Leagues (a permanent feature of leagues moving forward).
Combat Mastery will also be introduced as a separate mechanic, allowing for Relics to play a more diverse role in build theory crafting. Each area comes with its own echo boss, providing players with new challenges and extremely powerful loot unique to Leagues.
Giants of Fire & Ice Coming to RuneScape in Spring of 2025
New giant bosses Branda and Eldric are coming to Old School RuneScape in spring of 2025. Rounding out the roster is this fire and ice giant duo, serving as the only giant bosses on the list. Jagex promises this pair will help give those new Fire Cape owners a little something extra. We don’t know too much about these two, but hopefully there will be more information soon.
And Beyond 2025
Although not planned till spring of next year, we have our first look into Varlamore: Part 3 The Final Dawn. This time we find ourselves on a great quest through the Auburn Valley, to the Custodia Pass, and into the Tlati Rainforest. An adventure that brings along with it a new Slayer dungeon. Complete with a new slayer monster with 3 different variants, Fletching activities for the archers among us, a low-intensity crab boss to rave with, and The Doom of the Mokhaiotl, the first boss in Old School to utilize RuneScape’s enrage mechanic.

We also got a sneak peek at some of the content Jagex has planned beyond the spring of 2025. Project Zanaris introduces community servers where players can implement their own rules to create a unique Old School RuneScape experience. Players can also look forward to an official HD mode as well as plugin API updates. Bringing the vanilla RuneScape mobile and PC experience closer to RuneLite quality.
Information on these two features is limited, but we are looking forward to hearing more about them in the future.
The End of Another Summer Summit
Wow, that’s a lot of content. Of course, in usual modern day Jagex fashion all of these future updates are currently being polled now. So, vote for the content you’re most excited to see come to Old School RuneScape. For information on announcements we didn’t cover in this article, like The Curse of Arrav and the Game Jam V update, you can check out the official 2024 Summer Summit summary on the RuneScape website.
