On the Brink of Annihilation

BIOMORPH is a captivating 2D hand-drawn Metroidvania adventure, set on the dying planet of Ilios. The hand-drawn artwork brings the world of Ilios to life, making it a stunning visual experience. From ancient ruins to forgotten settlements and vast underground complexes, BIOMORPH offers a sprawling, interconnected world full of secrets and hidden areas to discover.

As you venture deeper into the world, you’ll uncover the mystery of a long-lost cataclysm while facing off against powerful enemies and optional boss fights. The world is non-linear, so you can freely choose your path and explore at your own pace. Although, the game does reward the most daring adventurers with new skills and upgrades.

The Dark Avenger

In BIOMORPH, you play as Harlo, one of the last survivors of their kind. Harlo has the unique ability to transform into any creature they defeat, absorbing their powers in the process. Think of them as a sort of grungy, edgelord Kirby. No- not Meta Knight. Though Harlo certainly has Meta Knight’s attitude. Your journey will reveal surprising and alarming truths about Harlo’s origins, and just where their powers come from.

This mechanic—known as biomorphing—unlocks an array of new abilities, from increased speed and barrier-breaking strength to explosive projectiles. This transformation system encourages creative thinking, as players must choose the best form and skills to tackle the many challenges in the game’s world. Strategic planning is essential, especially when navigating the dangerous environments and solving intricate puzzles.

Be careful of your enemies, though. BIOMORPH utilizes an innovative AI system, which evolves as you progress. After absorbing an enemy’s abilities, those same creatures will learn from your tactics and adapt, making the gameplay experience unique with each encounter. This system ensures that even revisiting areas feels fresh, as enemies grow stronger and more strategic over time.

Rebuild Your World

In addition to the main adventure, BIOMORPH also allows you to rebuild and customize the village of Blightmoor. As you befriend its inhabitants, you’ll learn more about the city’s origins and its people’s daily lives. This home base provides a place to relax and make your own mark on the world. The inhabitants may even provide you with ways to upgrade your abilities over time.
