Wacky West delivers the action-packed experience you’ve always imagined from those endless runner mobile ads—except this time, it’s real! Dive into a fast-paced, post-apocalyptic world from debuting developer OnlyStuff. You’ll fight off mutants, create insane combo builds, craft powerful weapons, and struggle to survive in a chaotic wasteland.

Brought to a Pip-Boy Near You
Set in the scorched Arizona desert after a nuclear catastrophe, Wacky West is giving Fallout meets Desperado. You play as a resourceful survivalist battling hordes of mutants and zombies, scavenging the wasteland for money and supplies. Your retro-futuristic tech waits for you at your homebase. Upgrade your underground hideout and craft an arsenal of devastating weapons. Every run is a fight for survival as you dodge hazards, face off against menacing bosses, and gather essential materials to stay alive.
Now, is there much variation between the enemies and the bosses? No, not really at this point, but it is just a demo. Of the four biomes, only the canyon appears to be available in Wacky West’s demo. It’s filled with Resident Evil type zombies marching ever towards you, occasionally carrying barrels of bombs on their backs. The bosses on this level are invariably the blob zombie type. They sit behind a fence, lobbing a number of bombs at you on approach. If you can kill it before reaching the boss, great! But if not, say goodbye to your precious HP.

A Cat’s Got 9 Lives, You’ve Got 1000
To be fair, though, you’re not really meant to survive a run in Wacky West. After every death you’re sent back home to see what you’ve gathered. From there, you’ll craft and upgrade a wild array of unique weapons, from auto-targeting machine guns to rocket launchers and flamethrowers. Now, as far as I’ve seen in the demo there’s only the machine gun and the shotgun, but it’s good to know what you’re in for in the full release, huh?
Once you’re done upgrading, it’s back to the scrap run for you! With better weapons and equipment, and more unlockable upgrades to buy with your money on the course, you’ll survive even more obstacles. Navigate dangerous traps such as barbed wire and corrosive puddles while grabbing useful pickups like Scrap Packs and Adrenaline Shots to give yourself an edge. And don’t forget to smash loot crates with your melee attack to claim powerful items, nor to engage in the one-of-three loot system after each boss to secure valuable upgrades.

Endless Combat
Wacky West’s full release promises that the fun won’t stop after completing the course. After defeating the final boss, you can choose to continue the madness in endless mode, where greater challenges await and rewards are doubled. Other craft materials will also unlock in the other biomes, allowing you even more variety in your crafting.
While it might not be the game for everyone, Wacky West does deliver wholesale on its concept. How far can you make it in the wasteland?
Wacky West was part of February’s Steam Next Fest. The demo is still available as of publication. Release date is listed as “coming soon.”
