UMAMI’s Cozy Food Puzzles Are a Delightful Treat

Indie developer Mimmox has unveiled its debut title, UMAMI. This heartwarming 3D food puzzle game is as comforting as melted butter on toast, a bowl of homemade soup, or indulging in chocolate after a long day. Set to launch on PC later this year, this cozy and relaxing game invites players to piece together mouthwatering culinary scenes.

If you’re craving a feast for the senses, this might be the game for you. Players will solve puzzles across 15 beautifully handcrafted and hand-painted dioramas, arranging wooden blocks to create deliciously whimsical dishes—from towering, gravity-defying burgers to impossibly fluffy cakes. A demo will be available during Steam Next Fest (June 9-16, 2025), giving players an early taste of this playful food-themed adventure.

A Feast for the Senses

In UMAMI, each puzzle is a multi-course meal of creativity. Each level introduces you to charming chefs like Chef Bumblebake, Chef Sushiba, and the cooking duo Chefs Honey and Cuddle. Rotate, adjust, and place wooden blocks on a 3D board to bring each chef’s culinary creations to life. You’ll reconstruct delectable dishes like syrup-drenched pancakes, sugary sweet treats, and fresh onigiri stacks.

Designed for pure relaxation, UMAMI has no timers, no penalties, and no stress—just soothing gameplay where both exploration and discovery are the main goals. Every diorama is lovingly hand-painted by a team of five artists, specializing in textures, environments, and intricate illustrations. From breakfast spreads to gourmet lunches, towering burgers to pastry masterpieces, Mimmox promises a puzzle to satisfy every craving. Moreover, hidden surprises, like adorable animals to pet and collectible cards, add extra layers of delight.

About Mimmox

Founded in 2024, Mimmox is an indie studio dedicated to crafting cozy, heartwarming games that feel like a comforting hug. Their mission, pray tell? To create joyful, soulful experiences that help players relax and appreciate life’s little pleasures. Their goal with UMAMI was to create a cozy, whimsical escape where players can unwind in a world of charming food-themed puzzles. They have certainly succeeded on that point! If their debut game is any indication of their style, I look forward to whatever future games Mimmox produces.

UMAMI launches on PC via Steam in 2025, with support for 27 languages, including English, French, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (Simplified & Traditional). Look forward to the demo release coming next month in June!
