Developed by Voidmaw and revealed during the first Play Acclaim Showcase, Katanaut is now out on Steam. In Katanaut, you’ll slice and dice your way through a doomed space station, all while painting the walls with the pixelated gore of your enemies.

In Space, No One Can Hear Your Enemies Scream

Billed as an action roguelite and taking inspiration from both action-platformers and Metroidvania-style games, take on the role of Naut in Katanaut as you’re sent aboard a space station that has quite frankly seen better days. Many of the humans on the station have been turned into cosmic horrors that Naut will need to deal with if they want to find out what happened to the station.

Even though it’s called Katanaut, Naut isn’t wielding just a katana all through the game. As seen in the trailer, Naut also has access to a gun, as well as magic. On top of that, players are able to unlock different melee weapons, guns, and magic-like skills to aid you in your station investigation.

Master the game’s Souls-like combat system if you want to make it further into the bowels of the space station. Be warned, though, the further you descend into the station, the more haunting things will become as enemies become less and less human.
