Fancy Games and Secret Mode are proud to announce that Escape the Backrooms will be fully leaving Steam Early Access on October 23. Escape the Backrooms was released into Early Access in late 2022, with the 1.0 reveal announced during the most recent Convergence Showcase.

Escape The Backrooms During Halloween

While it can already be played now, you’ll be able to play it in all its 1.0 goodness on the 23rd. On top of that, it’s also the perfect type of game for Halloween.

You and up to three friends have glitched through cracks in reality and are now in The Backrooms, and you’ll need to rely on your teamwork to explore and escape this liminal hell. On top of that, you’ll need to avoid enemies and solve puzzles if you want to escape.

As you and your friends progress deeper into The Backrooms, you’ll come across endless liminal spaces, impossible hotels, and eerily calm pools. You’ll be able to keep in touch with your friends with proximity voice chat but be careful because the entities of The Backrooms can also hear you.

New Spooky Content for Release 1.0

Along with leaving Early Access, version 1.0 will also come with some new spooky content! The new content will include four new levels of liminal goodness to explore, taking the environments, you can explore to fifty! You’ll be able to find the origins of the Bacteria in the Overgrowth level, meet Kitty on level 974, expand your M.E.G research in the bunker, and chill out in The Grassrooms.

On top of all the new content, older content has also been tweaked and updated to get players to fall into The Backrooms again. Graphics have been updated across the board to really show off the liminal hell you and your friends have entered. Fancy Games has also added a new mission screen to make return trips easier.

Alternative endings have also been included for those of you who want to uncover all the secrets Escape the Backrooms has to offer.

Escape the Backrooms will launch into 1.0 on October 23 via PC on Steam. It’s available now in Early Access and retails for $9.99.
