Our annual NeverMore Awards is held in late December or early January, honoring indie games, developers and publishers. We choose these later dates to give games that release after the major award shows have already taken place a chance to shine.

The NeverMore Awards are completely community based. The wider gaming communities are invited to submit their nominations for indie games that came out in that year. Except for special circumstances, all titles submitted are included as nominees. Additionally, the winners are voted on by players the world over.

Tracey Cullinan Award

Additionally, we are deeply honored to announce the Tracey Cullinan Award. This award is unique to the NeverMore Awards and is presented to two games. One is a legacy game that began a trend and has made a positive difference, not only in the gaming industry, but throughout the far-reaching worldwide community. The second game continued in 2024 to push forward in that same community. The award was presented by Tracey’s family.

For those who aren’t aware of who Tracey Cullinan is, please read our spotlight article on his background, legacy and impact on the gaming industry. He was a remarkable young man who made a big difference in his short life and continues to do so today.

The 2024 Legacy Winner is Stray from developers BlueTwelve Studios and publisher Annapurna Interactive. Their contributions to helping abandoned animals have had a far-reaching impact, including raising tens of thousands of dollars for shelter and adoption programs.

Carrying on in that legacy is Valhalla Cats’ Stars in the Trash, our Flame Keeper Award recipient. Not only have they educated their fans on good pet care, but Tika and co have donated over $10k through their adoption program.
