European indie developer Studio Mechka has announced its first original IP. Marko: Beyond Brave, is an action-adventure Metroidvania inspired by Slavic folklore and 90s cartoons. The game will be released on Steam September 17, 2024 with a playable demo available now.
Play as Marko, a young warrior who awakens the hidden powers lying dormant within him. With a trusty great sword and an even trustier mustache, Marko will face ancient evils, fearsome mythical creatures, and form powerful alliances while learning more about his elemental abilities that will shape the fate of Zagora.

The 2D world of Zagora is beautifully hand-drawn frame-by-frame, with visuals inspired by Slavic mythology. Players will traverse a non-linear map with hundreds of explorable areas, from lush forests to crumbling castles. Experience legendary boss fights from Slavic folklore such as Vila, Koz’el, Urgl, Vlashko, and the Tree of Life. Fine-tune the weapons and tools necessary to defeat the dark forces looming over Zagora.
