Move over MOBA games, the MODA has just dropped on the scene!
Chief Rebel, a new indie game studio from Stockholm, Sweden, in collaboration with publisher Arc Games, has just announced the closed Alpha of their game, Fellowship. According to Game Director and CEO, Axel Lindber, the team consists of veterans who “have worked on games like Diablo, the Just Call series, Battlefield, Helldivers, The Division, World of Warcraft, and a bunch of other huge titles over the years”. Drawing inspiration from their vast array of experiences, Chief Rebel is introducing a brand new genre of gaming – the Multiplayer Online Dungeon Adventure, or MODA.

What is a MODA?
Unlike a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena, or MOBA, where two teams of players compete head-to-head, the MODA is a team versus dungeon experience. Anyone who has done WoW raids or played TTRPGs like Dungeons and Dragons should be familiar with the concept. A lair filled with enemies and the bosses, each with their own unique skills and strategies. Your team must work together to overcome them if you want that sweet, sweet loot.
Fellowship will feature a leveling system as you play. This unlocks new “talents, set bonuses, and relics that provide new facets and depth for your chosen hero”. The loot you gain from the endlessly scaling dungeons will continue to boost your character. When you’re ready, you can join the second, Ranked, play mode. Ranked offers “the most challenging content” Fellowship has to offer, according to Design Director Bretton Hamilton. Above all, the designers take pride in offering an engaging experience for gaming veterans of all kinds.

Fellowship will be a premium title, and is currently set to launch in 2025. The closed Alpha of Fellowship will be running from August 15th through the 21st. This will let you play the six heroes currently in development, and playtest the latest innovation in modern gaming. If you wish to participate, then please make sure to sign up for it on the official website.
