The Electric State RPG Electrifies Your October Gaming

We’ve shared news on Simon Stålenhag’s new artbook here before, but now we have even more exciting news. Free League Publishing has announced their newest TTRPGThe Electric State Roleplaying Game – based on Simon Stålenhag’s original narrative artbook of the same name.

Embark on a road trip through a land on the brink of collapse, featuring gorgeous, unseen art from Stålenhag’s early drafts. These images have never been published before, but have now been repurposed specifically for the board game. The original story of The Electric State followed a runaway teen and her robot traveling through a war-ravaged cyberpunk America in 1997. It explores a number of dark themes that The Electric State Roleplaying Game further elaborates on.

The discovery of neuronics in the late 1960’s forever changed the world, bringing it to the brink. The Sentre corporation pushes addictive neuronic technology to the population via cheap headsets similar to VR headsets we have today. A strange virus spreads through the net, infecting those using the headsets. Now the government is rapidly losing control as basic services cease functioning, and players will have to discover what they’re willing to do when bad turns to worse.

Written by Nils Hintze in collaboration with the Free League Publishing core team, the rules for The Electric State Roleplaying Game are based off of the Year Zero Engine. It will function similarly to the ALIEN RPG and the Walking Dead Universe RPG, though tailored for this universe. The Electric State RPG standalone book contains all the tools you need to play and create short to mid-length campaigns in this setting.

The Electric State Roleplaying Game is coming out October 1st this year. It will be available in the Free League webshop, hobby stores, and digitally on DriveThruRPG.  If you can’t wait for the physical copy, then you can pre-order it now with immediate access to a complete PDF.
