DevGAMM to Host Game Developers Conference this November

DevGAMM Lisbon is gearing up for its return to Cascais and the Oitavos Luxury Hotel on November 14-15, 2024. Founded in Ukraine in 2008 and now operating fully remotely from various countries, DevGAMM is a video game development conference that has been uniting game industry professionals from Eastern Europe and beyond for over 15 years. It promises two days filled with engaging sessions, workshops, games, and exciting new features like Speed Networking and VIP activities. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet legendary game developer John Romero, known as the “DOOM Guy”.

Last year’s event featured 50 educational panels, showcased 60 games, and attracted 341 companies. This year promises to be even bigger. DevGAMM Lisbon will feature an impressive lineup of industry professionals from renowned companies including Rovio, IO Interactive, Scopely, Massive Entertainment, and Guerrilla. Attendees can look forward to insightful panel discussions, such as “Next-Gen Brazil: Unlocking the Future of Your Game Business,” led by local game industry experts and representatives from gamescom LATAM. Workshops will cover a range of topics from go-to-market strategies and character crafting to technical assessments and freelance tips.

As the headliner, John Romero will deliver a keynote titled “DOOM: The Game That Changed Games,” where he will share rare footage and behind-the-scenes stories from iconic titles like DOOM, Wolfenstein 3D, and Quake. With over 130 games to his name, Romero is a legend in the industry, often referred to as the father of first-person shooters. John Romero is also holding a Meet & Greet, where he will sign copies of his new autobiography, DOOM Guy.

Game Creators Working Together

The recently introduced Speed Networking initiative will allow participants to make quick introductions with a variety of peers. Business ticket holders will gain access to the networking platform MeetToMatch, enabling them to browse attendee profiles, manage their schedules, and plan meetings efficiently.

Another one of the highlights of DevGAMM is the prestigious DevGAMM Awards, which recognizes excellence in game development. With a prize pool of $100,000 in cash and additional sponsorship awards, this competition is a fantastic opportunity for emerging talent. Developers can also apply for the Game Showcase, the on-stage Public Pitch, and a Steam Event, all ideal for showcasing projects to industry executives, major publishers, and investors.
