Never before has a demo felt like a fully released game already. Dive into the electrifying world of Royal Revolt Warriors, an exhilarating co-op experience for 1 to 4 players where survival and action-roguelite gameplay come together. Prepare to face relentless hordes of enemies using a powerful blend of melee and ranged combat as you navigate through various dynamic environments.
Building on the legacy of the Royal Revolt series, this new installment from Upright Games delivers heart-pounding top-down action that offers both a compelling solo experience and thrilling co-op gameplay. I wasn’t lucky enough to have a friend to hop into the game with me, but I certainly could have used one. Royal Revolt Warriors is challenging, with 20 minutes in an average run – if you survive that long.

A Million and One Options
To win, you’ll need to master each warrior’s unique abilities and devise effective strategies to survive the onslaught. Each warrior starts with a different signature weapon, but by collecting experience crystals from felled enemies you can level up and get new weapons and upgrade trinkets. There are only so many slots to fill, and many more options to choose from than that. Playing through the game and accomplishing optional objectives unlocks even more characters, weapons, and trinkets to personalize your later runs. Whether you’ll get the combination that fits your needs and playstyle, however, entirely depends on RNG.
I liked playing The Advisor and Sam the Satyr, myself, as I favor ranged attacks. Next, I’d try to get the Monk’s Brew weapon for a circle of damage that’s great for fending off the littler foes. Then, the Sword for extra damage against the baddies directly in front, and then whatever else comes up. Attacks are automatic, so all you have to worry about it dodging the enemies and running to the various breakable containers in each map. They contain useful power-ups, health drops, and gold that you can spend on base upgrades. I didn’t realize the gold had a purpose at first and ended up hardcore running the first two maps essentially naked.

Surprises Around Every Turn
In Royal Revolt Warriors you battle across a diverse array of arenas, from the idyllic plain, to frozen mountainsides. The first two maps were looped, creating the illusion of endlessly generated space. That also led me to run right into the optional boss at the end of the third map with over half of my timer left to go. The switch-up was shocking and thrilling in equal measure, and beating that boss changed things on a completely different map! The variety of enemies was also very fun to see, though they followed similar archetypes and phases. It became predictable in a helpful way, allowing me to anticipate how I needed to move and level over time.
When I say that I would be completely satisfied if Royal Revolt Warriors‘ demo was the full game experience, I’m not kidding. I was literally shocked at how much content was put into it, and Upright Games promises even more heroes, maps, and surprises in the full release. Royal Revolt Warriors will even be in Early Access for a year, to gain community feedback and optimize the experience. I’ve already Wishlisted it, but you should definitely check out the demo for yourselves. It’s well worth it!
