Sick Samurai to Hit Steam Next Year

Solideo is excited to announce Sick Samurai, an exhilarating and bloody action game with instant-death combat. Drawing inspiration from titles like Hotline Miami, Sick Samurai blends fast-paced gameplay with a nostalgic aesthetic reminiscent of Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop. The game features an original lo-fi hip-hop and jazz soundtrack, voice-acted dialogue, and hand-drawn retro anime-style visuals.

Sick in All the Best Ways

In Sick Samurai, players will slash and dash their way to becoming the ultimate fighter on the island. Combat is swift and intense, allowing you to engage opponents at incredible speeds. Alongside your primary weapons, players can wield secondary items such as kunai and stun bombs, or kick objects to turn the tide of battle. Timing is crucial when you unleash the powerful Girameki technique — blink, and you might find yourself defeated.

Sick Samurai offers a rich strategic experience, with each level meticulously crafted to provide multiple paths and tactics. You can customize your approach through various upgrades and items, facing increasingly challenging foes along the way. However, it’s worth noting that the game includes mature content, depicting violence, blood, gore, and ritual suicide. If you’re sensitive to such subjects, it’s best to approach this game with caution.

Visually and audibly, the game captivates with its original soundtrack. It fuses elements of hip-hop, jazz, funk, and soul, evoking the feeling of a rainy night in the late ’90s. Sick Samurai also delivers an engaging narrative, featuring fully voiced interactions with unique characters like Genyu, your mentor and infamous ex-samurai, and Jones, a “former” gangster who now runs a jazz bar. As translations into other languages will depend on the game’s popularity in those regions, Solideo encourages players to express their interest by adding it to your wishlist.

The planned release date for Sick Samurai is a full year from now, October 2025. Look forward to the full release!
