The beautiful thing about video games isn’t simply that they can be inspired by anything, but they can take unique tones, adapt clever gameplay styles, and more, depending on what the creator wants. At Steam Next Fest, a special 3D puzzle platformer inspired by Portal was shown off. It was called THANKS, LIGHT., and it’ll drop this September on the platform. As noted by a press release…

“The game’s central concept is a spatial manipulation of shadow and substance: players wield a flashlight to shift objects between 2D and 3D states, start your adventure by solving puzzles with your imaginations in the Liminal Space.”

Looking at the demo page for the game, as well as the trailer you can watch below, you can see that the teams at Lightersgames and Game Source Entertainment went really creative with the world and how things can “unfold” just by shining a light onto the right spot.
