You likely have noticed that there are certain “cozy” games that have been popping up lately that get a lot of attention due to the fact that they have a gameplay loop that is fun, enjoyable, repeatable, and yet keeps you coming back for more. The next game that aims to fit that mold is Gendo The Gatherer, which is a pixel art-style foraging game set in Japan, where you will gather items, cook food, and live a simple life. Here’s a synopsis from the team at UnintentionalLogic:
“Forage and cook your way through Gendo’s journey as you discover a mystical, ever-changing forest. Gendo runs a small teahouse and, after long days of gathering goodies, returns to his village to cook and serve his creations to the locals from whatever the forest provides that day.
Oh, and you can pet the raccoon.”
Simple joys indeed! If this seems like something you might be interested in, you’re in luck! The team has launched a special week-long playtest for Gendo The Gatherer. To gain access, simply go to the Steam page and request to be a part of the playtest.
Here’s what you can expect from it:
“The playtest gives players an early taste of Gendo the Gatherer’s world. Explore the forest, take on quests, and start making Gendo’s house feel like home. A deliberately early slice of the game designed to give players a feel for the atmosphere.”
