RuneScape: Dragonwilds Drops “Umbral Sands” Update In Preparation For Full Launch

If you somehow don’t know about RuneScape, in any of its forms, both past or present, you truly must have been living under a rock while the internet was growing. The title has been one of the longest-running MMORPGs ever, and has branched off into “new forms” over the years, including the upcoming RuneScape: Dragonwilds, which is more of an open-world survival title than anything else. The game has been on Steam Early Access for some time and has slowly been improving through player help and guidance.

Today, the dev team at Jagex has announced that the final main update for the Early Access version has dropped. It’s called “Umbral Sands,” and will bring new content to players, as noted in the team’s press release:

“Umbral Sands introduces a new area, new items, a new mount type, new allies and enemies, and a ferocious new boss, the fearsome dragon Fuzan, ahead of Dragonwilds’ launch into 1.0 on September 15 on PC and consoles.

Also launching alongside Umbral Sands is the official launch of Chinese (simplified), Japanese and Korean support for the game, bringing RuneScape: Dragonwilds to even more audiences than before.”

To further build the hype, the game has dropped a trailer to highlight what you’ll see in the update:

When the game launches in September, it won’t solely launch on Steam. Instead, it’ll also drop on the Epic Games Store, while also making its console debut on Xbox, PS5, and Nintendo Switch 2.
