One of the hardest parts of being an indie developer is getting noticed when your game finally drops. Sure, you do all you can to get attention, but it can be a hard struggle. That’s why it’s great when teams like Failbetter Games decide to post a newsletter letting their followers know what indie games THEY really dig and think YOU should give a shot to. They’re so kind.
And yes, they did just drop a newsletter about just that, revealing titles their team found on Steam that you should check out.
For example, there’s Lost Wiki: Kozlovka, a detective game where you must find the truth inside a database that just so happens to be a 90s Mac! The game has a lot of great “Overwhelmingly Positive” reviews, so why not spend $4 to get it?
Sticking with the old-school vibe, there’s The Telwynium: Book One, a point-and-click adventure game that intentionally invokes the styles and tropes of the first computer games, while not hiding the darkness that is within its world. It dropped earlier this month, and you should give it a look:
Then there’s Walk, which isn’t out yet, but it does have a demo for you to try! The game is truly about walking, but there’s nuance within this simulation puzzle game that might catch your attention.
As for another demo to try out, there’s Sovereign Tower, an interactive RPG where you’ll run a kingdom and must carefully decide what to do. If things don’t work out for you, rewind time to see what other paths work, and which people to trust, or not trust. The whole first act is within this demo, so see what it’s like before the game drops in full this August!
