Video games have the ability to help people in more ways than one. After all, they’re meant to be engaging and fun experiences. Whether you play alone, with friends, or random gamers online, you often play them to “escape” from the real world and just relax for a while. In some cases, though, game developers push for truly transformative gaming experiences that are meant to express things in our lives in ways regular games can’t. One such example is dropping later this month via Plum Road Tea Dream.
The game from Reveal Game Studio and developer Samuel Baidoo notes that this is a “semi-autobiographical game” that mixes many things together:
“Plum Road Tea Dream is an autobiographical adventure about pain, identity, and the rituals we create to heal.
As you assist S. in coming to terms with different types of grief, Plum Road Tea Dream invites players to slow down, reflect, and embrace every version of themselves.”
Curious, huh? The title will drop on Steam on July 27th, and the team is very excited about it, with one of them noting:
“In Plum Road Tea Dream, gaming and trauma come together in a remarkable way. (…) Those who associate gaming with escapism and isolation will discover unexpected layers, where discrimination and queerness find an unforgettable form of comfort.”
