Food is one of the cornerstones of life. It just so happens that some people are better at cooking than others! Don’t worry, though, if you like cooking food in the digital space, you have plenty of options. Today, we learned that Little Chef: Cozy Cooking by Julien & Erika will launch on PC and Mac via Steam on August 26th! The title has slowly been simmering on Steam Early Access, and now that we have a release date, it means this soufflé is ready to rise! Yes, we’re really “baking in” the cooking puns with this article.
Case in point, like with any good recipe, you need lots of ingredients, and Version 1.0 of the cooking puzzle game will have over 300 recipes for you to collect and decorate your kitchen with upon completion! Here’s an official synopsis and trailer for you to dine on:
“Little Chef: Cozy Cooking encourages players to get messy in the kitchen by experimenting. Powered by responsive physics, every object in the game has weight, motion, and a personality of its own. By dragging, tossing, and combining ingredients in fun and surprising ways, players will be able to fill their cookbook with a massive index of recipes, ranging from the gourmet to the gross.”
Plus, as teased, this is a puzzle title, which means that as you go from one bistro to another, you’ll learn to whisk away your preconceived notions of how to cook and do some more lateral thinking to get to your just desserts. Such desserts, er, features, include:
- Mix & Match Ingredients! Drag, drop, toss, or gently place ingredients into pots, ovens, or whatever else you can find to cook in. Combining the right ones unlocks new recipes, good and bad.
- Play With Physics! Enjoy satisfying, tactile mechanics where everything reacts dynamically to how you move it.
- Solve Cozy Puzzles! Some ingredients are hidden, others are locked away, and solving these puzzles might mean thinking creatively.
- A Sweet Story! Follow a heartfelt narrative by unlocking each recipe, from childhood favorites to brand-new creations.
You can play Little Chef: Cozy Cooking right now on Steam Early Access to further help the game get its seasoning, or you can wait until August to get the full flavor of the dish. Don’t worry, we’re done with the cooking puns now.
…bon appetit.
