The works of H.P. Lovecraft have inspired many. After all, that’s why you see Cthulhu and spinoffs of him everywhere nowadays. The gaming space is not immune to that, and that’s why teams like Badger Punch Games and Thalamus Digital are getting set to release a turn-based roguelike version of Lovecraftian lore via Roguecraft DX. Today, the teams revealed that the game will drop on Steam on September 10th!
So, what will entice you to try out the game? The synopsis should spell it out well:
“Roguecraft DX beckons you to the murky depths of Mordecoom, where untold riches and ancient horrors shamble in the darkness… alongside some highly irritable chickens. Choose from one of three distinct classes: the fragile yet formidable Wizard, the brawn-over- brains Warrior, or the slippery teleporting Rogue, all while rocking out to an original Amiga mod soundtrack.”
Another cool thing about the game is that, at most, each run through the title will go about 40 minutes. That means you won’t have to stress for too long before starting over and seeing if you can do better with different builds and tactics. Other features include:
- All explorers welcome: Roguecraft DX looks like a hardcore Amiga adventure of yore, but has been designed with accessibility and approachability first, all without sacrificing the experience for purists who crave a true challenge.
- A new tale to tell with every run: The scrolls told of the perils of Mordecoom, but also the treasures that lie within. Every run is different, filled with hidden rooms to unlock, potions to quaff, and lumbering monstrosities to duel.
- A clucking good time: In Chicken Run mode, embrace your latent poultry power and hunt down golden eggs that will let you transform from a lowly 2HP chicken to an eldritch-powered Chicklathohep.
- Infinite adventure: Want to see just how far you can make it before Mordecoom’s slithering residents claim you? Dive headlong into the Endless Dungeon mode and rack up your high score.
If you’re interested, wishlist the game now so you can dive right into the Lovecraftian madness when launch day arrives!
