A new trailer for Muse Games‘s spaceship tactical shooter has dropped with two new revelations. First, Stars of Icarus will release sometime during the first quarter of 2027. Second, the game’s playtest will run from July 16th to August 3rd via Steam. The trailer debuted during today’s Secret Sauce Showcase.

In this game, players clash in intense 5v5 intergalatic dogfights. Other key features of Stars of Icarus are:

• “Victory never looked so good: Create the character and ship of your dreams with full cosmetic and loadout customization, and ensure your enemies never forget who beat them.
• From ragtag ruffians to confident crew: Form a squad, find the formation that works for you, and build an unbreakable bond. From agile one-man fighters to hulking frigates that require multi-person teams, you’ll all need to pitch in if you don’t want to end up as floating debris.
• Being the best is thirsty work: Unwind at the Loading Bar social space between matches and regale others with tales of conquest. Want to chill out but still duel some foes? Take a break from the ranked modes and dip into casual servers. Matches are built to last around 20 minutes and be pick-up and play, so you’ve got time for a round even on your lunch break.”

However, the team has also promised new features and maps in this playtest:

“Playtesters can dive into the Cleaved Canyons and Keyport Station maps and access the new Cargo King gamemode, where they’ll battle for control of a cargo ship and outnumber their opponents to maintain supremacy. Use the map to predict the ship’s path and lay traps, and stay in formation to avoid getting picked off.

Also arriving with this playtest are expanded 8v8 servers, all-new tutorials, and countless bug fixes and improvements. This is on top of everything introduced in previous playtests – new ship types, maps, player-owned lobbies, and more.”
