Celtic Co-Op Survival Game Brightfall Gets Gameplay-Focused Trailer

Darkness is something we’re all taught to fear when we’re young. But in video games, darkness can become a much more existential threat when put in the right context. Dark Point Games is prepping its co-op survival title Brightfall for release. Before then, though, a new gameplay trailer dropped, and it highlights just how twisted the darkness on the island you’re on is. Are you afraid of the dark? Don’t worry…you will be soon enough…

Set on a forgotten island erased from English maps, Brightfall challenges a team of 1 to 4 players to survive against an encroaching force that actively corrupts the world around them. Trees bend into unnatural shapes. Wildlife mutates into hostile creatures. The land itself fights back. Your only real defense is light.

The light from the mysterious Brightheart crystal creates fragile pockets of safety, holding back corruption and preserving your sanity. But light fades quickly, and every expedition beyond the safety of camp becomes a desperate balancing act between risk and survival. As you scavenge resources, craft weapons, and expand your refuge, you and your team will gradually reclaim territory from the darkness, with the influence of the Brightheart expanding its radius as you release ancient Celtic circles from the influence of darkness. As the darkness gets pushed away, safe havens can be established across the island, allowing expeditions to push deeper into increasingly hostile biomes filled with powerful enemies, ancient ruins, devastating bosses, and even elite enemies that will have you running for safety.

Oh, and if all of that isn’t enough? If you don’t keep your lights close to you? Or you wander away from them for too long? You can lose your mind! Doesn’t that sound like fun? Glad you agree! Due to that, here are some other features for you to consider:

  • Living Darkness System: Light is your only weapon. Use it to push back corruption, and carve circles of sanity in a world that twists with every flicker.
  • Dynamic World Reactions: The environment and enemies respond to changes in brightness, forcing players to adapt their strategies as the darkness grows.
  • Co-op Survival: Brave the cursed island with 1-4 players. Scavenge, craft, and defend your shared flame while arguing over who forgot the tinder again.
  • Celtic Horror Setting: Explore a haunting world inspired by 17th-century post-plague England and Celtic myth, rarely seen in survival crafting.

Currently, the game is only set for a Steam release. However, Dark Point Games did make it clear that ports for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 will arrive down the line.
