The Stone Age was a key part of human history, and many have been obsessed with it for years. The teams over at PolyPerfect and Indie.io have showcased that obsession with their survival title Polylithic, where you must lead a group of cavemen through the age. The game is currently on Steam Early Access; however, it’s now been revealed that it’ll drop its 1.0 form on Steam on August 25th! Just as important, the full launch will bring a swath of new content to enjoy.
“Set in a vibrant, low-poly world where humans are far from the apex of the food chain, Polylithic casts players as tribe leaders navigating the Stone Age from Paleolithic hunter-gatherer to Neolithic settler, with online co-op for up to 10 players and an infinitely generated Sandbox Mode for those who prefer to skip the instructions and cause problems.
Polylithic 1.0 is a significant expansion of everything the Early Access build established. Players can now customize their character (it’s the Stone Age, somehow), manage a new hunger and body system, adopt a best friend as a dog or hyena companion, emote around the campfire, yell at wildlife, contend with enemy tribes and attempt the new cooking minigame, which generates recipes at random, with predictably chaotic results. The update also brings new story moments, smarter AI, new items, weapons and mushrooms, a major optimization pass and so much more.”
The team noted in a press release that they are grateful to all the gamers who helped flesh out their survival title, as it grew in ways that even the team didn’t expect. Polylithic will have a discount at launch, so you might want to snatch it up while it’s on sale when August rolls around.
