There have been many trends in the gaming space that several developers and publishers aren’t afraid to jump on if they feel they can deliver something to match the demand. For example, compilations of older series have been popular, as it gives teams a chance to bring their titles into the “modern age” to see what people think. Koei Tecmo and Gust have done that today with the release of Blue Reflection Quartet, a compilation of the RPG series that has been updated a bit and adds content that wasn’t fully accessible to players beforehand. Check out what we mean below, via this synopsis and trailer:
“Players will go back to where it all started in the Quartet version of 2017’s BLUE REFLECTION, which reintroduces students Hinako, Yuzuki, and Lime as they prepare to face an incoming threat to their world. Fans will enjoy experiencing the title’s atmospheric shimmering water, environments, and characters in high resolution, along with several features that were not included in the title’s original release, such as faster moving speed and auto-save.
Following the first title, an animated series, BLUE REFLECTION: RAY, aired in 2021. Players will return to the story of students Hiori and Ruka, following them as they recall their memories while collecting Memory Shards in order to delve deeper in to the story. BLUE REFLECTION Quartet also introduces new 3D models of the main characters alongside an extra short story that can be unlocked by gathering Memory Shards. Additionally, a prologue and epilogue will be added to tie the series’ titles together.”
As you can see, this is a true compilation, one meant to satisfy older fans, while also telling a complete story for new fans to come and enjoy. The best part is that it’s available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and Steam. That means you have options on how you get to enjoy the experience and…reflect…on what’s being shown to you.
