Last week, FREE STYLE Games announced that OBAKEIDORO 2: Chase & Seek launched on August 6 for the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

A sequel to the first OBAKEIDORO!, this multiplayer action game puts eight players in a “scary-cute” world of traditional Japanese legends for a game of hide-and-seek:

“Players will face off in intense 3-minute rounds as either a Monster (1 or 2 players) or a Human (3 or 6 players). If the Monsters catch everyone and put them in jail within the time limit, they win. If even a single Human manages to evade capture until time runs out, the Humans win!

Monsters and Humans have unique abilities that keeps the game fair despite the player count discrepancy:

“Monsters possess unique traits and skills—such as passing through walls, high-speed movement, and powerful capture attacks. Use them wisely to craft your winning strategy!

Humans must rely on teamwork to survive. Jump across floors to escape, carry your allies to safety, or flash your trump card—the Lantern—to stun the Monsters and make a break for it!”

If a Human is caught, their teammates can rescue them from jail at risk of being ambushed by the Monsters.

OBAKEIDORO 2: Chase & Seek also supports local play, has a custom rules mode, and will be released simultaneously with a $9.99 USD character DLC bundle.

The limited-time event “Ghouligan’s Pranks Underway!” is also planned on August 13 to August 30. Watch the whole release trailer below.
