NC (formerly NCSOFT) has recently announced that it will transition its MMO Throne and Liberty from Amazon Game Studios to its own online publishing services later this year. The NC team will be working with game developer FirstSpark Games to ensure the change goes smoothly.
Fans and current players of Throne and Liberty who play on other platforms won’t have to worry, says the team:
“Existing Throne and Liberty players using Steam, XBOX and PlayStation platforms will experience no changes to their current gameplay environment or assets and now will be able to play together in a single, unified environment alongside PURPLE (NC’s proprietary platform players.”
Non-Amazon players will only have to accept a new Terms of Service. Key data and assets, including character information, progress, and inventory, will be maintained across the board as well.
FirstSpark Games CEO Moonyoung Choi had this to say about the transition:
“Amazon Game Studios has been an excellent partner, and we’re grateful to have launched and maintained our MMO thus far with their team. Taking a more direct role in global publishing makes so much sense for us, and so we’re thrilled to lead the next chapter of Throne and Liberty directly as NC.”
