As we’ve seen quite a bit in recent months/years, developers of all sizes love to look at retro titles from the past and say, “Hey, what if we remade them for the common day?” Just in the last few weeks, we’ve seen looks at modern remakes, and today, we’re showing you System 3’s attempt to do that with a platforming title of the past via Putty World. This retro series had several titles release before, but now, they’ll be combined into one title with fully overhauled graphics for its 35th anniversary. “Putty World brings together the worlds of Putty, Super Putty and Putty Squad in one connected experience. As players progress, they will unlock recreated and updated levels inspired by other games from across the series.

The game is planned to include 75 new or extensively updated levels, with more than 45 new enemies already added. Players will encounter new opponents, expanded enemy behaviours and new ways in which enemies react, attack and fight. Additional surprises are being introduced throughout development, including end-of-level bosses and dedicated boss battles.

Putty himself has also been given considerably more personality and expression. The updated character features more than 50 facial- expression combinations, helping him react dynamically to the world and events around him.”

As you can see, the team is working hard to make the title not just feel fresh, but pay tribute to the titles that came before. If you’re interested in it, you might want to pay attention to the upcoming Tokyo Game Show, as the game will be featured there. As for its release, it’ll drop on Nintendo Switch 2 next year.
