BOXROOM Gets “Retail Update” and Announces V1.0 Release Date

•

A benefit of Steam Early Access is the ability to release timed updates to expand what the game offers to players, ensuring that the content is ever-growing without being overwhelming. That can be a huge deal when it comes to fixing bugs and balancing certain elements. For the team at Pantaloon, they dropped a big update for BOXROOM dubbed the “Retail Update.” It adds a lot more content, further fleshing out the title’s intent. You can check out what the update offers below:

  • Build shops, arcades & cafés: Create and furnish your own retail spaces with a new catalogue of items.
  • Display your video collection: New DVD and video boxes let you stock shelves and expand your media collection.
  • Custom disc & CD artwork: Add your own artwork to discs and CDs for an even more personalised collection.
  • Play your own videos on TVs: Screens around your BOXROOM can now play your own video content. The modern age demands constant media consumption, apparently.
  • Improved shelving: Items on the same shelf row can now face different directions, giving you much more control over your displays.
  • More label customisation: Change label fonts and colours to get everything looking just right.
  • Improved mod creation UI: Creating and managing custom content is now easier.
  • Quality of life improvements: Spawned objects now kindly face towards you, and dust particles can finally be switched off
    entirely.

Ironically enough, that’s STILL not everything that the update offers. The team wants to surprise people who are playing the game on Steam Early Access, so you’ll want to keep your eyes open for other little things “tucked away” in the decorating life sim.

Now, as for the status of the Early Access build overall, we also have some news: Version 1.0 will drop on Steam on November 10th. So, you can help build the game up now, and then enjoy it in full in about a month!
