In truth, video games are only limited by the people who make them. We mean that literally, as they can shape a game’s visuals, characters, gameplay styles, and so on to whatever they feel is best to deliver the most amazing product. In the case of developer Cowboy & Clown Games and publisher Xiombarg, they decided to create an FPS title that looks like something straight out of a painting. They call their game VINCIT, and today we got the official trailer for the title as well as the reveal that the first playtest will drop later this month. You can get the full details below:
“At the heart of VINCIT is a unique bullet-customization system. Every bullet can be infused with dozens of effects that interact not only with enemies, but also with each other and the environment. Rather than simply shooting enemies, players constantly manipulate projectiles in real time, combining effects, improvising with physics-based interactions, and discovering new approaches to every encounter.”
Doesn’t that look like a total trip? That’s the goal, and when you look at the key features, you can see just how far they’ll push things to give you a unique bullet hell/boomer shooter experience:
- Gunplay meets spellcasting: Infuse ammo with Fire, Water, Electricity, Healing, Nails, and more to craft custom bullet combos and dynamic chain reactions on the fly.
- Bullets as physical objects: Punch them mid-air to redirect combos, walk on them as platforms, or transform them into entirely new objects.
- Mix bullets for varied effects: Every combination behaves differently, interacting with enemies and the environment in ways that reward experimentation.
- Enemies as puzzles: Battle bounty hunters, living machines, and eldritch horrors that parry attacks, steal health, teleport, or absorb bullets to grow stronger.
- Solo and co-op action: Take on VINCIT’s fractured worlds alone or team up with friends for high-speed co-op runs.
This might be one of the most unique games we’ve ever seen, and definitely a standout in the FPS genre. The plan is for the game to go to Steam Early Access next year, so you’ll want to jump on the playtest, which you can sign up for now on Steam, to ensure you get in on the ground floor and help shape what the title will become!
