Most RPGs have at least one or two metrics that allow players to “shape things” to their liking. Most of the time, it’s about how you approach a battle, which team members you use, upgrades you strive for, and so on. Other times, there are key story beats you can influence, and so on. In Outcast Tales, which has just dropped for FREE on Steam, you’ll be able to truly influence much of the game, making it a true “choose your own adventure” title. How things go is up to you, making it a replayable game in the best of ways. For more details, check below:
“In Outcast Tales, you’ll assemble a trio of ne’er-do-wells and head into the wilds in search of your fortune. Pick your crew from a wide cast of wasteland wanderers, each with their own abilities, then give each one a personality that could make them the perfect teammate… or an absolute nightmare.
Write your own story and watch as your decisions bring discord or harmony to your crew. Their changing relationships can unlock new ways of handling encounters, but they can also spill over into combat. Feuding teammates can refuse to lend each other a hand, while a little careful ego stroking can unlock powerful synergies.”
If you still need a bit of “coaxing” to try out this FREE title, check out the game’s key features:
- Pick your post-apocalyptic posse: Craft your crew from a choice of characters each with their own skills and abilities (or should that be insuffer- abilities?). Choose a personality for each hero and experiment with party combinations that could lead to glory or leave your squad at each other’s throats.
- Deep tactical battles: When talking fails, settle the score the old-fashioned way. Master turn-based combat and upgrade your skills to give your misfits a fighting chance.
- Bicker or bond: During each run, the choices you make affect your story and your crew’s relationships. Encourage a blossoming romance or fuel a seething rivalry; just remember that your decisions will have a very real impact on both the battlefield and out in the wasteland.
Given that the teams at Hardlane Studio and Inner Pocket are just giving away the title, why not give it a shot and see if you like it?
